The “tembo” or elephant in Swahili, is the largest land-going mammal. At birth, a baby elephant is 120 to 330 pounds, which is only about one fifth of the adult male’s weight. To start off your tour you will fly in to the Nairobi airport and stay in the Southern Sun Hotel for one night. This hotel is very well accommodated and a perfect place to relax after a long plane ride. You will be able to relax by the pool and get a good nights rest before embarking on your adventure. In the morning you will be transferred to the Porini Mara Camp. The Porini Mara Camp is situated in the Ol Kinyei Conservancy. This wildlife reserve is only 18km from the famous wildlife park, Masai Mara. Here you will be able to take wild game rides and keep your eyes out for the Big Five and other animals. You will have all the wished for facilities, such as running water, electricity and flushing toilets. You will remain at this camp until Day 6. This reserve is a sanctuary for chimpanzees and also holds a large amount of rhino and other wildlife.
